Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about ContinuumAR — from device compatibility and network requirements to industry use cases and deployment.

General

AR remote assistance connects a field technician's live camera view to a remote expert in real time. The technician wears AR smart glasses; the expert joins from a web browser. The expert sees exactly what the technician sees and can draw annotations, place directional arrows, and highlight components directly onto the technician's display — guiding them through fault diagnosis, repair, or inspection without travelling to site.

Technicians log into the ContinuumAR app on their AR headset using a QR code delivered by email — no manual credential entry needed in the field. They view open tickets assigned to them and initiate an expert call directly from the ticket. The expert joins via a web browser on any desktop or laptop. Both parties share HD video and the expert can annotate the technician's live view. Calls are recorded, transcribed, and attached to the ticket automatically when the session ends.

ContinuumAR runs on Android-based AR headsets purpose-built for industrial and field environments. Supported devices include the RealWear Navigator 500, Navigator 520, and HMT-1, and the Six15 ST1-RA and Six15 Enterprise HUD. The platform does not run on consumer smartphones, tablets, iOS devices, or Windows computers.

Remote experts and platform administrators access ContinuumAR from any modern web browser on a desktop or laptop — no specialist hardware required on their side.

No. Remote experts and platform administrators join sessions and manage the platform from a standard web browser on a desktop or laptop. The ContinuumAR app is installed on the AR headset as an APK and can be distributed to multiple devices simultaneously via RealWear Cloud, including in kiosk mode for managed enterprise deployments.

Technical

ContinuumAR is built for variable-bandwidth field environments and performs reliably on a standard 4G LTE connection. The platform adjusts video quality automatically based on available bandwidth, so sessions remain stable even in areas with intermittent signal. Wi-Fi, LTE, and 5G are all supported. A real-time network strength indicator inside the app lets the technician check connection quality before initiating a call. No on-premises infrastructure or VPN is required.

All video and session data is end-to-end encrypted. The platform uses enterprise-grade access controls, unique user ID login per technician, and supports restriction of multi-device login to prevent shared credential use. Multi-domain administration allows enterprise customers to manage multiple sites and user groups from a single account. The platform is cloud-hosted with 99.9% uptime.

Yes. The platform provides REST API and webhook support for integration with ERP, CMMS, and field service management tools. Common integrations include SAP, ServiceNow, Salesforce Field Service, and Microsoft Dynamics. Ticket data and user accounts can also be exported to CSV. Industry Solutions

ContinuumAR connects floor technicians with remote subject-matter experts for real-time guided maintenance. Technicians follow AR-annotated step-by-step procedures on their headset display. Quality control checklists can be assigned to tickets and completed hands-free — with mandatory completion and locked states that prevent technicians from skipping critical safety steps. All calls are recorded and transcribed, with the full session attached to the maintenance ticket for full traceability.

Yes. ContinuumAR supports EV charging station installation and fault-finding, battery diagnostics, drivetrain and cooling system maintenance, and high-voltage safety procedures. Technicians wear AR headsets in the field and receive live expert guidance with real-time annotations. Safety checklists with mandatory completion states enforce high-voltage work protocols before a technician proceeds to each stage.

ContinuumAR provides AR-guided pipeline integrity assessment, leak detection workflows, and GPS location mapping for field inspectors in oil and gas and utility environments. Remote engineers join the inspection live, consult on findings in real time, and annotate the inspector's view directly. All inspection data, snapshots, and AR annotations are captured automatically and attached to the ticket — creating a verifiable audit trail for compliance and regulatory purposes.

ContinuumAR supports remote and on-site training by connecting trainee technicians with instructors via live AR video. Instructors annotate the trainee's field of view in real time, guiding them through procedures step by step. Checklists and guided procedures can be assigned as training exercises. Completion history is recorded automatically for skill validation, qualification tracking, and compliance records.

Implementation

ContinuumAR is cloud-based with no on-premises installation required. Most teams are operational within minutes of account setup. Technician onboarding requires only a QR code scan on their AR headset — no lengthy IT configuration process. The APK can be distributed to multiple devices simultaneously via RealWear Cloud.

Minimal training is required. Technicians interact with the platform entirely through voice commands on their AR headset — no touchscreen or keyboard input while working. Most technicians are proficient with the core calling and checklist workflows within their first session. Platform administrators who use the web-based dashboard receive onboarding support from the ContinuumAR team.

Yes. A live demonstration using your specific devices and a scenario from your actual operations is available. A structured pilot programme is also available for enterprise evaluations, allowing your team to run ContinuumAR on real field operations before a full deployment decision.
